Fiberart International 2022 Artist Robin Bernstein, trained as a painter, has worked with string and wax as her primary medium for the past 15 years. Her demonstration will focus on the techniques used in her Beauty & Terror series, 18 brilliantly colored and detailed fiber “paintings” depicting stories of the Holocaust; stories of crime, terror, as well as redemption and courage. Each work of art is composed of thousands of tiny pieces of cut string that have been pressed into a bed of wax and brushed onto cut plywood; each takes between 4 and 6 months to create. Bernstein’s Beauty & Terror series is her way of saying “Those who do not know or cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

The demonstration will be followed by a reception from 5-6 pm, and then Robin Bernstein will give a presentation on her work. If you would like to attend the presentation, please register through the separate event page.
